Cupcakes (Desserts) of 2011- Q2

Filed under: Cupcakes — by Alison @ 1:54 pm

I had challenged myself to make the cupcakes from my “Hello, Cupcake” calendar. The first two months were a success but the second quarter has shown a serious decline in meeting the goals. There have been some tasty desserts made, I may consider it a draw.

April was a goldfish cupcake. Cute, but we were too busy enjoying these treats in France to bake any of our own.

Chocolate Nuns

In May we celebrated my younger brother’s birthday with a cupcake golf course. Appropriate for someone who just graduated from law school and passed the Ontario Bar Exams.

Not an ideal course

June cupcakes were ant covered, so we skipped those and focussed on desserts for Father’s Day. For my dad I made a pavlova.

We love a Pavlova

My husband got his favourite Chocolate Oatmeal pie.

Serve with whipped cream

June also hosted my daughter’s school fun fair. I really wanted to make beautiful cakes for the Cake Walk, so that they’d be selected early on. I was pleased with my efforts.

Flowers and simple cakes - solid options.

But this one, from a friend, really takes the cake.

Angry (yet delicious) Birds

I’ll have to step up my game next year.

    • I can share the recipe. It’s one of our favourites.
