Car seat confusion

I am very happy with the car seats we have for both kids. I’d keep them until they grew out of them, but they aren’t legal in the US. They’ve only been certified in Canada. Easy enough issue to resolve. I’ll just buy the same seats after we move. FIne for E, but I decided H needs a seat to fly with, as I’m not going to spend 5+ hours trying to restrain him. I suppose we could fly with his Canadian car seat, but I have a friend here who could use it and is willing to trade me coffee for it. So that’s not the best option. Also, then we’re stuck with a perfectly good seat that is useless.

Then I decided I would order one from an US store, but they won’t ship them to Canada. Makes sense as they aren’t legal here.

Okay, option 3: I’ll order from an US store, have it shipped to the store, invite a friend to shop with me for the day, pick up the seat and bob’s your uncle, we’re all set. Wrong again! Both stores that I checked don’t allow me to ship it to the store, but they also don’t have them in stock.

I’m not sure this is going to work out. Maybe my husband will just have to bring one home with him. Car seats don’t usually count against your luggage restrictions, but I wonder if you need to be travelling with a kid.

  1. Hee, all I could think of was imaginary babies, or even better, creepy dolls, that go in the car seat. Explain kids under two fly free on your lap so what’s the problem. Please check the seat, it’s included.
He may have to buy a creepy doll too for this to work.

    • Now I have to figure out where to order those creepy baby like dolls from 🙂 Oh, and convince him that it’s a solid plan.
