Bookclubschmookclub

I’ve noticed that quite a few book clubs have been meeting on twitter. It’s a great idea, people from all over can get together and share their thoughts about a commonly read book. The only problem for me is that my pleasure reading doesn’t tend to lend itself to deep thoughts, even one’s that need to fit in 140 characters. I tend to tweet about television. With the recent introduction of Netflix and HuluPlus to our household, I’ve been able to watch and catch up on shows I’ve never been interested in before. Hello, Parks and Recreation! But where to share this.

I was texting with Lara and the idea of TV club was born. Lara came up with the much catchier hashtag #bookclubschmookclub.

Our idea is to have a twitter chat once a month about a randomly chosen television series. We are planning for the first Thursday of the month at 8pm (EST).

For our first meeting in February, we’ll be watching Drop Dead Diva. I think it would be best to watch at least 2 episodes, to get a good sense of the show.

If you want to join in, follow me on twitter (@alisonjette) and check the hashtag for more details. #bookclubschmookclub

As seen in Seattle

It’s been a bit hectic around here and I have neglected my blog. I’m hoping things settle down soon and I’ll get back to blogging. A lot has happened and I’ll write more about Christmas, the move, getting E settled in school and my adventures in unpacking later. But until then I thought I’d share some pictures from our first couple days in the Pacific Northwest.

Flowers to plant. In January!!

An espresso hut at the gas station near the highway exit. Still haven't seen a chip truck

There are penguins at the zoo down the road. We'll visit often.

And chickens on the way to school. This may also be Dave Matthews house, but I can't yet confirm.

And of course, Seattle's Moving Super-Heroes.
