All Halloween’d out

Halloween is a big deal. It seems to be getting bigger every year and I honestly don’t understand the fascination. Our October derby scrimmage was Halloween themed, which just meant that some people wore scary make-up and I had a cape on during warm-up. There have been Halloween activities at all the museums, the aquarium, the zoo, different neighbourhood parties, my husband’s work and the schools. And Disneyland was all decked out as well. The trick-or-treating party was sold out for the nights we were there, but I think a $60 ticket price would have deterred us from participating.

Since Halloween was all around, the kids really got in the spirit. I took H to the Aquarium on Monday for Halloween activities. He liked seeing the underwater pumpkins and the animal carvings.

Hard to tell if they are seals or sea lions.

Then on Tuesday, his preschool had a Halloween party. We baked pumpkin cookies for the pot-luck and had a lot of fun. I think H liked showing his school to E. I liked seeing him participate in the circle time.

On actual Halloween, we were celebrating from 2pm until 8. I co-hosted E’s school Halloween party. We had a cool pumpkin craft, a few games and ended with wrapping each other up as mummies. Then we headed to the party at Dan’s work. The kids got to trick-or-treat on the floors and there were snacks and movies on the first floor. I was really impressed with the building and all the cool features. The view from the kitchen area was beautiful.

They would not stand still.

After we left downtown, H changed costumes and we walked over to E’s friends house. We had heard that her street gave out great treats, and we’re eager to be shown the ropes. We were fortified with pumpkin chili (delicious) and maybe a little wine (only mom) to brave the elements. The rain was sporadic and it was a mild night otherwise. Everyone lasted for about 45 minutes, and then we headed home stopping at lit houses along the way. While we did make it over to Dave Matthew’s house, the haul was still impressive. Now to figure out what to do with it all.

Nine full sized bars total. But no chips.
