I got caught up in the Blissdom Canada ticket excitement in March and rushed to buy a ticket. Even then I was concerned about the timing. I was supposed to return to work in September, would this be a good use of limited vacation days? I figured I’d hold on to the ticket and decide at a later date. Then in the summer, we decided to move to Seattle. My husband is there now and I’m at home with the kids and a house up for sale. The timing of Blissdom is still a concern. Should I leave the kids for three nights without any parents? Can I leave the house, what if there are viewings?
I’ve sorted out the childcare arrangements. My amazing parents have offered to stay with them, and to make sure the house is ready for viewings.
And now, I’m not so sure I should go to Blissdom. I worry that I won’t fit in, I worry that I won’t understand what’s going on, I worry that I’ll wander around lost, I worry that the people I know will be too busy with others and I’ll be left alone. I haven’t put enough effort into my blog to really feel that I’m genuine. It feels like I’m playing at something that others take seriously. If I’m to get enough out of Blissdom to justify going, then I need this to be a more important aspect of my life.
So, I’ve set myself a goal. I will blog about something every day this week. If I can do that, then I’ll be sharing my bliss. If I can’t, then I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

I’m not going, and haven’t been, but if I were you I’d talk to Sara or Brie (if you haven’t already). Everything I’ve heard says you’re not alone in the worries (well, except the move part), and that you’ll have a blast 🙂

I went last year and didn’t have a blog. Yep. That’s what I did.
The message I got from Blissdom Canada was that it was a social media conference, not just a typical blogging conference. So I bought my ticket not knowing who was going… I’m not even sure I had meet any of the Ottawa peeps before I bought my ticket. I think I may have meet Lara, Anna, Brie and Sara twice for Kids in the Capital.
I walked away with a lot of new found knowledge and was inspired to start my blog. Still, I may post only on a monthly basis, but I’m knee deep in social media and love it. There is a place in Blissdom Canada for everyone! AND there is no way you’ll be alone. That I can guarantee!

Glad to hear of your experiences last year. I enjoy the excitement and enthusiasm that conferences provide, hoping to leave with that energy on Sunday.

I really, really think that you should go. If not for the content, then for the people (but I think the content alone merits it). It.s a wonderful opportunity to meet people that you might not have, and to make some connections 🙂

Are you still debating? Because I think you’ll really find Blissdom a great starting place to find your focus. Do you want to blog? Do you want to monetize your blog? What defines you in social media? All of those things you can start to get a better idea of your own thoughts and direction by going to a conference like Blissdom. Now, I haven’t personally been yet, but I felt like I got a lot out of hearing about my friends’ experiences.
Also, I guess I just want a chance to hang out with you for a few days before you leave us!
